Am I doing it correctly?
A common block you may find as your begin journaling practice is wondering if you are doing it correctly?
The good news is that there is really no right or wrong way. The intent of expressive journaling focusses more on the process of expressing thoughts, feelings and experiences onto the pages and if you are wondering whether you are doing it correctly it could hinder your ability to express freely. It’s important to remember that the content of what you write in your journal is not going to be marked, critiqued or corrected by anyone else, and nor do you need to read over what you have written if you don’t wish to. Although consciously you may understand this there maybe old patterns lurking in the shadows of your subconscious.
Try to adopt a sense of curiosity as you explore the inner landscape of your being, give yourself permission to freely express the contrasts of your moods, attitudes, perspectives or experiences. Writing invites you to be open and honest as you express. It may not be easy, though it will be beneficial. and as much as possible be non judgemental with what you write.
Be Curious with you.
Let your curiosity focus your attention rather than your expectation restrict you.
